R2 Copilot Chrome Extension

Effective Date: May 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the R2 Copilot — Private AI Assistant Chrome extension (the "Extension," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you install or use the Extension. This policy applies only to the Extension and its in-extension user interface (including the side panel). It does not apply to third-party websites, third-party AI providers, or other services you may access through the Extension.

1) What the Extension Does (Single Purpose)

The Extension's single purpose is to provide an AI assistant in your browser that helps you generate, rewrite, summarize, translate, and analyze content only when you choose to use the Extension.

We follow a data-minimization approach and use information only to deliver the features you request and to keep the Extension secure and reliable.

2) Information We Collect or Handle

Depending on how you use the Extension, we may handle the following categories of information:

A. Content You Choose to Submit

This includes information you intentionally provide to the Extension, such as:

  • Prompts, questions, and instructions you type into the Extension
  • Text you select and choose to send to the Extension
  • Page content you explicitly ask the Extension to summarize or analyze

B. Web Context (Only When Needed for a Feature You Use)

When you use context-based features, the Extension may temporarily access limited information about the page you are using, such as:

  • The current page address (URL) or page title
  • Relevant page text/content needed to perform your requested action

The Extension is not intended to collect browsing history as a standalone activity. It accesses web context only to support a user-facing feature you initiate.

C. Authentication and Session Information (If You Sign In)

If you sign in, we may process information required to authenticate you and maintain a session, such as:

  • Account identifiers (e.g., an email address or user ID, depending on the sign-in method)
  • Authentication tokens/session credentials

D. Extension Settings and Local Storage

The Extension may store certain information on your device to function properly, such as:

  • Preferences and configuration (e.g., UI settings)
  • Session state (and, if implemented, authentication tokens)

E. Technical and Diagnostic Data

To maintain security and performance, we may collect limited technical information such as:

  • Error logs and crash diagnostics
  • Performance and reliability metrics
  • Basic device/browser information (e.g., browser version)

We do not use diagnostic data for advertising or profiling.

3) How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • To provide the Extension's features you request (for example, generating an AI response based on content you submit).
  • To authenticate you and manage sessions (if you sign in).
  • To protect the Extension and users, including preventing fraud, abuse, spam, and security incidents.
  • To improve reliability and performance, including debugging and service monitoring.

We do not use Extension data for personalized advertising, profiling, or selling data.

4) Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your information.

We may share information only in these circumstances:

A. Service Providers (Sub-Processors)

We may share limited information with vetted service providers that help us operate the Extension and deliver its features (for example, hosting, security, monitoring, and AI processing services). These providers may process data only on our instructions and only as needed to provide the services.

B. AI Processing

When you request an AI response, the content you submit may be processed by AI systems necessary to generate that response. We limit such processing to the purpose of providing the feature you requested.

C. Legal and Safety

We may disclose information if required to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, our services, or the public.

D. Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not share Extension data with advertisers, data brokers, or similar resale/monetization partners.

5) Human Access to Content

We do not allow humans to routinely read the content you submit to the Extension.

Human access may occur only in limited situations, such as:

  • When you request support and provide explicit consent to review specific content
  • When needed to investigate security incidents, abuse, or fraud
  • When required to comply with legal obligations
  • When data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations (for example, reliability reporting)

6) Data Retention

We keep information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Submitted content is processed to provide the requested response and is not retained longer than necessary to deliver the feature, unless a feature explicitly offers saving/history and clearly informs you of that behavior.
  • Authentication/session data is retained while your session is active or as needed to provide the service.
  • Technical/diagnostic data may be retained for a limited period to maintain security and reliability, then deleted or de-identified.

If you have an account, you may request deletion of account-associated data by contacting us (see "Contact Us"), subject to legal and security requirements.

7) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes encrypting data in transit using modern security protocols where applicable.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and reduce risk.

8) User Controls and Choices

You can control your privacy and how the Extension operates by:

  • Controlling site access in your browser's extension settings (for example, allowing the Extension to run on specific sites or only when you choose).
  • Disabling or uninstalling the Extension at any time.
  • Choosing what you submit to the Extension. Do not submit sensitive data you do not want processed to generate an AI response.

9) Prominent Disclosure and Consent (When Required)

If we introduce any handling of personal or sensitive information that is not closely related to the Extension's stated functionality, we will provide an in-product prominent disclosure and obtain affirmative informed consent before that handling occurs.

10) Children's Privacy

R2 Copilot is not intended for users under the age of 13. By using the extension you confirm that you are at least 13 years old, or that you have obtained consent from a parent or legal guardian. If we discover that we have collected data from a user under 13, we will delete that data and close the account.

11) Compliance with Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (Limited Use)

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

12) International Users

If you access the Extension from outside the country where our systems or service providers operate, your information may be processed in other jurisdictions. We apply safeguards designed to protect information consistent with applicable law.

13) Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or other controls over personal information associated with your account. To exercise rights (where applicable), contact us using the details below.
